CUBE athletes successful worldwide: World Cup win, Tour podium & national titles

The past race weekend was a complete success for our CUBE athletes. Whether on the road, off-road, or in long-distance triathlon – our athletes have once again proven that they can compete at the very front!

SIMONA KUCHYNKOVA CELEBRATES FIRST ENDURO WORLD CUP VICTORY

In La Thuile, Italy, Simona Kuchynkova crowned her already impressive season with her first win at the UCI Enduro World Cup – in her debut elite season with the CUBE Actionteam! After two previous podium finishes, she finally secured her well-deserved victory aboard her Stereo ONE55.

On the second stage, she laid the foundation for her eventual overall win with an outstanding time. Heading into the final stage with a 2.6-second lead, not even a crash in the rock garden could stop the young Slovakian. In the end, she secured victory by 2.08 seconds.

Simona now sits in an excellent second place in the overall World Cup standings. Together with Zakarias Johansen, who managed a 20th place finish despite a crash, the team currently holds second place in the team rankings.

BINIAM GIRMAY JUST MISSES STAGE VICTORY AT THE TOUR

At the Tour de France Grand Départ, Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) narrowly missed out on a stage win, finishing second on Stage 1. However, he claimed the white jersey for the best young rider.

Girmay was active right from the start on the chaotic, wind-affected stage, picking up points in the intermediate sprint and finishing just behind stage winner Jasper Philipsen in the final sprint. The big goal for the rest of the Tour: a stage win!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: TITLE HUNT IN SWITZERLAND AND SLOVENIA

At the Swiss National Championships in Savognin, Finn Treudler competed in both the U23 Short Track (XCC) and the Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) races – and secured two national championship titles! Especially impressive: he successfully defended his XCO title from last year with a commanding solo ride. From the very first lap, Finn was in the lead and left his competition with no chance.

In the U19 category, Finn Lanter from the CUBE NextGen XC Team showcased his talent. In a tight and exciting race, he fought his way to the front lap by lap and finally claimed the junior XCO national title with a 22-second lead.

There were also celebrations in Slovenia: Marusa Tereza Serkezi won both the Junior Women’s XCO and XCC national titles. Racing in hot summer conditions, she kept a cool head, tactically took control of the race, and confidently held the lead until the finish line.

STRONG TEAM PERFORMANCE AND PODIUM FINISH IN LA THUILE

The new stop of the UCI MTB World Series in La Thuile, Italy, demanded everything from the CUBE Factory Racing Downhill Team. The technically brutal track, with deep holes, countless line options, and constantly changing conditions, made it extremely difficult to find flow.

On Sunday, Rosa Zierl started as the last junior woman and delivered yet another brave and fast run. In a thrilling race, she finished in an excellent 2nd place, further extending her lead in the Junior Women’s World Cup overall standings.

Kasper Hickmann improved to 9th place in the final. Jess Blewitt once again showed her consistency and crossed the line in 7th place. Max Hartenstern was riding fast in his final run until a small mistake in a compression threw him off his line, resulting in a hard crash that ended his race early. Luckily, Max escaped serious injury and still managed to finish 27th.

CHALLENGE ROTH: STRONG LONG-DISTANCE DEBUT FOR FREDERIC FUNK

At the legendary Challenge Roth, one of the most prestigious triathlons in the world, Frederic Funk completed his first long-distance race. Conditions on the day were nearly perfect: lightly overcast skies, mild temperatures, and minimal wind made for fast times on the course around Roth.

The day didn’t start ideally for Frederic – he lost valuable time in the swim and exited the water with a deficit. But once on the bike, it was his time to shine: on the fast and undulating bike course, Frederic consistently made up ground aboard his CUBE Aerium C:68X. He particularly impressed on iconic climbs like the Solarer Berg, battling his way into the top five.

In the final marathon, Frederic ran a controlled race and maintained his position despite the rising afternoon temperatures. With a strong 5th place in his long-distance debut, Frederic proved he belongs among the world’s best over the full distance.
