Gold, silver and bronze at the ITU Long Distance World Championships for CUBE triathletes

Last weekend the ITU Long Distance World Championships for Triathletes took place in Samorin, Slovakia. After 2 kilometres swimming, 80 kilometres cycling and 18 kilometres running, Lucy Charles-Barclay from Great Britain crowned a brilliant comeback with the world championship title. Florian Angert and Frederic Funk completed the top result of the CUBE triathletes with the silver and bronze medals in the men's race.

Right from the start Charles-Barclay took the lead thanks to her strong swim performance. On the bike she led the race for a long time and came into the second transition zone together with Sarissa de Vries from the Netherlands. In the final run Lucy Charles-Barclay showed a strong performance and finally reached the finish line in 3:34:17, 3 minutes ahead of second-placed Emma Pallant-Browne.

In the men's race, Florian Angert was in the lead for a long time, mainly thanks to a strong bike split on his Aerium C:68. In the end, he only had to be defeated by Frenchman Pierre Le Corre and was thus able to celebrate his first vice world championship title at the finish. Frederic Funk finished directly behind Angert in 3rd place and thus secured the bronze medal.
