Highs and Lows at the World Cup in Leogang
Leogang once again proved why it is considered one of the most demanding stops on the World Cup calendar, delivering a weekend full of emotions, from standout performances to unfortunate setbacks.
CUBE FACTORY RACING
Downhill
The Downhill team experienced both highs and lows throughout the weekend. While Max Hartenstern narrowly missed out on a place in the final and Rosa Zierl was forced to withdraw from her home World Cup after a crash in training, Kasper Hickman provided the highlight of the event. Returning from injury, the young Finn produced an impressive performance to secure third place and claim his first World Cup podium of the season.
Cross-Country
The Cross-Country team faced challenges even before racing began, with both Finn Treudler and Nikolaj Hougs unable to compete due to illness.
On the track, Maruša Tereza Serkezi delivered another strong performance, finishing fourth in the Short Track race and narrowly missing out on a podium finish. Ondrej Cink and Kira Böhm also impressed with top-ten results, finishing ninth and tenth respectively. The XCO races, however, proved more challenging. Kira Böhm crossed the line in 21st place, while Maruša Serkezi finished 22nd. Ondrej Cink looked set for another strong result and spent much of the race inside the top ten before a puncture and subsequent crash brought his race to an early end.
With Leogang now behind them, the team's focus quickly shifts to the next round of the World Cup in Lenzerheide.
CUBE ACTIONTEAM
The CUBE Actionteam also rose to the challenge in Leogang and delivered several strong performances.
Zakarias Johansen continued his excellent form with a convincing ride to ninth place and another top-ten finish. Simona Kuchynkova, who is still working her way back following an ACL injury, secured an impressive sixth place result — an encouraging step in her return to full fitness. William Scheele also demonstrated great determination throughout the weekend. After crashing on the opening stage, he fought his way back through the field to finish in 23rd place.
