EU DATA ACT


Information pursuant to the EU Data Act
(Regulation (EU) 2023/2854)

By purchasing a CUBE e-bike, the owner becomes a user of a connected product within the meaning of the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854). Operation of the e-bike and use of the related services generates data relevant to the product’s function, safety and maintenance, as well as digital services (e.g. smartphone apps).

As the manufacturer, we are required by the Data Act to provide transparent information about the use of the data and related rights in advance of purchase.

Availability of information

The system components installed in CUBE e-bikes (e.g. drive systems and digital services) are made available by the respective manufacturers. The manufacturers act as data holders and providers of the related digital services and make all information required by law available centrally.

The information comprises in particular:

  • Type, format and scope of data
    Overview of the data collected during operation of the product, e.g. trip data, speed, battery level, duration of use, sensor data, error codes and in some cases location data
  • Data generation frequency
    Information about the scope of data generation during use, e.g. continually, event-driven or at regular intervals
  • Data access and transmission
    Information on how data is collected, stored and sent to related services, e.g. transmission via Bluetooth to related services or via the mobile network to cloud systems
  • Data storage and retention periods
    Information on data storage and retention periods, e.g. if data is stored locally in the product or in cloud infrastructure in accordance with legal and contractual requirements
  • Access, transmission and deletion options
    Description of the options available for accessing, transmitting and deleting data – including the technical requirements for exercising these rights and the conditions for transfer to third parties
  • Terms of use and technical interfaces
    Framework conditions for access to data and available interfaces, e.g. via apps, portals or APIs
  • Identity of the data holder
    Who is responsible for data processing and availability
  • Purposes of data processing
    Description of the purposes for which data is used, e.g. for operation, maintenance, fault analysis, product improvement and digital services
