Three disciplines, three victories: Fred Funk, Rosa Zierl and Cas Timmermans celebrated international successes last weekend.

MTB

Downhill | Rosa Zierl back at the Top of the World Cup

Rosa Zierl won the UCI Downhill World Cup in Loudenvielle, France. The reigning Junior World Champion delivered a strong and consistent performance throughout the entire weekend and secured the day’s victory by the narrowest of margins, finishing 0.017 seconds ahead of her closest rival.

With this success, the Austrian retook the lead in the Junior Women overall standings and now travels to the next World Cup round in Leogang as the overall leader.

Cross-Country | Cas Timmermans wins in Savognin

There was also reason to celebrate in cross-country racing: Cas Timmermans won the UCI Junior World Series race in Savognin. In an intense race, the Dutch rider prevailed against international competition and crossed the finish line first.

TRIATHLON

Frederic Funk triumphs at Challenge St. Pölten

Frederic Funk celebrated an impressive success at Challenge St. Pölten, securing his second victory at this traditional race.

After a strong swim, Funk initially stayed with the chase group before closing the gap to the leaders on the bike. In the final phase of the bike leg, the 27-year-old increased the pace decisively, with only Jonas Wechsler and Hannes Butters able to follow. On the run, Funk then put the race beyond doubt. He immediately took the lead, pulled away from his companions early on and left no doubt about his victory over the half-marathon distance. With a winning time of 3:49:11, he crowned an almost perfect day of racing.

For Funk, it was his first professional victory in 987 days and the reward for the consistent work of recent months.
