LUCY CHARLES-BARCLAY CLAIMS SECOND IRONMAN 70.3 WORLD TITLE

Lucy Charles-Barclay secures her second Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Marbella

At the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Lucy Charles-Barclay once again delivered an impressive performance across all disciplines.

She broke away early in the swim, arriving at T1 with a 47-second lead. On the challenging bike course with approximately 1,800 metres of climbing, Taylor Knibb caught up on the first ascent. Despite strong winds, the two worked together at the front and reached T2 with a comfortable four-minute advantage over the chasers.

On the run, the leading pair stayed together until around kilometre 8, when Lucy increased the pace and pulled decisively ahead. After 4:14:54 hours, she crossed the finish line three minutes ahead of Taylor Knibb and seven minutes ahead of third-placed Tanja Neubert.

With this victory, Lucy claims her second Ironman 70.3 World Championship title, following her win in St. George in 2021 – a strong comeback after having to withdraw from the World Championship in Hawaii just a month ago due to the heat.
