Double victory in Andorra: Treudler crowns a strong team weekend
UCI MTB World Series – Andorra: Podiums, wins and team strength
High up in the Pyrenees at Pal Arinsal (Andorra), the CUBE Factory Racing Team delivered an outstanding performance – despite the extreme conditions at over 1,900 meters above sea level.
Cross Country: Double victory for Finn - Team shines in XCC
Finn Treudler was once again in a league of his own: The young Swiss rider secured victories in both the Short Track (XCC) and Cross-Country (XCO) races in the U23 category – marking his second consecutive double win after Leogang. His dominant form confirms his continued lead in the overall standings and cements his position as one of the strongest riders in the U23 field.
The rest of the team also delivered strong results:
- Ondrej Cink (Elite Men) showed his experience, finishing 5th in the XCC and 9th in the XCO – a solid performance on one of the most demanding courses of the season.
- Ella Maclean-Howell (U23 Women) showed great fighting spirit: After a tough start, she battled her way back to an impressive 6th place in the XCO, having already finished 5th in the XCC.
- Kira Böhm, in her first Elite season, once again demonstrated consistency: With 15th in the XCC and 19th in the XCO, she collected more valuable World Cup points and added to her streak of Top 20 finishes.
Downhill: Rosa on the podium, Jess just misses out
Due to severe weather warnings, the Junior Finals were cancelled – meaning that qualification results stood as final rankings. For Rosa Zierl, this was good news: Her strong 3rd place in qualifying earned her another podium finish and allows her to maintain the overall lead in the World Cup standings.
Kasper Hickman finished 18th in the Junior Men’s race.
In the Elite Women’s race, Jess Blewitt delivered a powerful performance, finishing 4th, narrowly missing the podium.
Max Hartenstern had a difficult day and unfortunately did not qualify for the final.
Biniam Girmay just misses stage win
A strong team effort, a committed sprint, and another Top 10 result: On Stage 9 of the Tour de France, the Intermarché-Wanty team once again rallied around Biniam Girmay.
Despite several crashes within the team – including Georg Zimmermann, who was forced to abandon the Tour as a result – the squad fought its way into position during the tense final kilometers.
Girmay was well-placed and sprinted to an impressive 6th place in Châteauroux, marking his third Top 10 finish of this Tour. In the points classification (green jersey), he currently sits in 3rd place with 151 points.
