A great gravel bike frame blends the lively handling of a race bike with the ruggedness of a cyclocross machine and the comfort of a tourer. That's a tricky balancing act to get right, but the Nuroad C:62 pulls it off. Lightweight carbon construction and careful attention to detail mean it's tough, comfortable and versatile. The full carbon fork features lowrider rack mounts, while integrated carrier and mudguard mounts make it easy to accessorise. It's practical, too – huge clearances mean you can run 45mm tyres without mudguards, or 40mm with.

TEST
The C:62 Pro is the lowest-priced carbon-framed Nuroad and an expert at handling high-speed gravel tours courtesy of its low weight. Nine kilos for a complete build is not only a clear USP in this price segment but even undercuts some of the more expensive race models. Not content with a light frameset, the bike also benefits from the low weight of the wheels shod with fast-rolling tyres. This translates to speed and stability off-road, while the relatively stretched out position keeps the wheels turning fast even on the tarmac. The carbon-fibre seatpost and factory fitted tyres deliver excellent cushioning, with clearance for up to 45mm for even more vibration-absorbing comfort. The 1x transmission includes low, hill-friendly gearing, is easy to use and has enough in reserve to grind up steep climbs, although the jumps between gears are fairly large.
