NUROAD

Pro FE

There's more than one way to build a versatile, go-almost-anywhere bike. But sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. For the Nuroad Pro FE we took the proven benefits of our Nuroad Pro - stable handling, rugged design, allroad capability - and added a full complement of accessories to make it tour- or commuter-ready. So there's a sturdy rear luggage carrier, full length SKS Gravel mudguards and a front and rear lighting system. Combined with the powerful Tektro Spyre mechanical disc brakes, reliable Shimano Tiagra 10 speed transmission and grippy, durable Schwalbe G-One Speed tyres, it's all you need for taking everything from the daily commute to multi-day touring trips in your stride.

Details

Blending the speed of a road bike with the rugged ability of a cyclocross bike might sound simple but, as our designers know, the devil really is in the detail. For example, the Nuroad Pro FE has enough frame and fork clearance to run 40mm tyres and mudguards, so you can pick the right tyre for the job. We routed cables inside the frame, to make them almost impervious to the effects of water, mud and grit - which means your gears will keep shifting cleanly, ride after ride after ride, even in terrible weather conditions. A replaceable gear hanger means that a mishap needn't result in an expensive frame repair, and carbon fork blades save weight and help filter out vibration for a more comfortable ride. As for the geometry, it blends the comfort, stability and agility of our road-going Attain bikes, but uses the same sizing as our off-road Cross Race series. It really is the best of both worlds.

Technology

      • Adaptable X12 Hanger

We optimized our new dropout design based on the Syntace X12 through-axle system, enlarging the area of the frame where the hanger is mounted. We can now fit the longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. With the new design it's also possible to swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.

      • Integrated Cable Routing

Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.

      • X12 Through Axle

In this system, a cone is used to form a play-free connection. It is only necessary to tighten the axle from one side. The position of the wheel is done by an insert in the right-hand dropout which is secured by a bolt. The main advantages of the Syntace system are quick and simple changing of the wheel, reliable position of the brake disc and higher stiffness of the rear of the bike. This allows the assembly to be made lighter than a conventional through-axle.

      • Press Fit BB

With Press Fit bearings, the bottom bracket bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows us to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chainstays. Every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement in lateral stiffness.

      • Tapered Steerer

This steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and yields a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means the greatest possible steering precision. With the larger steerer, the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of our CUBE carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.

      • Aluminium Superlite

Extremely high tensile strength heat-treated 7005 aluminium alloy is developed for the highest requirements. It is very stiff, fatigue resistant, corrosion resistant and has high elongation. Our Superlite tubes are double butted, giving very light tubesets with a high level of stiffness.

      • Advanced Hydroforming

The new STEREO , FRITZZ and HANZZ models are built using Advanced Hydroforming. Conventional hydroforming processes cannot achieve these custom shapes and technical advantages. As this manufacturing method reduces the number of welds, the weight is reduced while durability is increased. All

On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. We use this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.

      • Smooth Welded

This elaborate procedure with doubled weld seams has two advantages: On the one hand, it improves the firmness of the
weld seams and minimizes the load peaks on the tube welds through energy flow and on the other hand, it helps the frame
to a better and more organic look due to the smooth and hardly noticeable welds.
