Thankful that the bar tape irons out little bumps in the road while offering steering precision, I really open up the throttle for the last few metres. Ascent follows descent – I get out of the saddle again and climb to the next summit. I notice the midday sun beating down and the non-slip surface does sterling work even on the climb.
