We know from working with Elite racers that they want a frame that's stiff, responsive and, above all, light. So these are exactly the qualities we built into our Elite 240 C:62's lightweight carbon frame, but scaled down perfectly to fit younger riders. Every single detail of the frame design is aimed at reducing weight without sacrificing strength or stiffness. A tapered head tube, full carbon fork and 12mm thru-axles front and rear ensure precise steering and efficient power transfer. We kept the seatstays narrow for a comfortable ride. And cables are routed internally for long-lasting precise shifting, so mum and dad can spend less time tweaking and more time cheering.

Why should the grown-ups have all the fun? With its full carbon frame and fork and proper mountain bike components – including hydraulic disc brakes – the Elite 240 C:62 SLX is the real deal. Light, durable and fast, it's the real mountain bike that junior racers will love.

A really lightweight bike won't win races on its own. But it's a good starting point. For the junior whippet in your family, the Elite 240 C:62 SLX ticks all the right boxes. Its lightweight carbon frame and fork – perfectly proportioned for smaller riders – are just the beginning. We chose light, tough Newmen wheels and ultra-light Schwalbe Aerothan inner tubes for quick acceleration. Powered them with a CUBE Action Rookies crank and Sram GX 1x11 gears. And added child-proportioned handlebars, grips and brake levers – connected to powerful Magura MT8 Pro hydraulic discs – for perfect race day control, whatever the conditions. All that's left is to pedal... and win!

C:62® Monocoque Advanced Twin Mold Technology, PressFit BB, Internal Cable Routing

Not all carbon is created equal. With our C:62® carbon we increased the high modulus fibre content, then we reinforced the resulting material with nanoparticles incorporated into the bonding resin. Which is all just a fancy way of saying it's extremely strong, light and durable.

Cables connect your handlebar controls to vital components like gears and brakes, but there's no need for them to get in your way. With Internal Cable Routing we've reduced clutter and maintenance by running cables through the frame, keeping them out of the way of dust and water contamination – or damage from abrasion – as well as cleaning up your bike's appearance.

With our Advanced Twin Mold process we use two precisely manufactured forms for our C:62®, C:68® and C:68X® carbon frames. The first form is to ensure an accurate layup. The second, inner form keeps every individual fibre precisely where it needs to be while the frame cures. The result is a significantly lighter, stronger frame, with fibre density tailored to anticipated loadings at specific points.
