Round one of the Downhill World Cup kicked off in Lourdes with a strong performance in qualifying by CUBE Global Squad rider Greg Williamson who went on to finish 22nd overall.

The first stop of the UCI World Cup season has been a roller coaster of emotions for the CUBE Global Squad. Relentless rain in the week leading up to the races turned the entire track into sludge, ensuring the riding was pretty tough for everyone. The constantly changing conditions along with greasy rocks and roots made the course particularly demanding.

Undeterred by the difficult conditions, Greg put in an impressive run in qualifying to finish 12th. Unfortunately, after some promising practice runs, the 'King of Crankworx Rotorua' Matt Walker missed out on the qualifying round due a crash that resulted in a broken finger. Despite having to have two screws and a metal plate in his finger, Matt was back in the pits the next day to support his team mates in the finals.

Greg finished his first race in 22nd place, putting him 16th in the overall standings. The team is now heading to Australia for the second leg of the Downhill World Cup in Cairns.
