CUBE Action Team

Daniel Schemmel

For 2016 he'll be representing CUBE at all the key European races

Beginning with the 2016 race season, 20 year old Austrian Daniel Schemmel will be wearing the colours of the CUBE Action Team. Daniel is no stranger to the Enduro scene, having snared the junior European champion's crown in Kirchberg in 2015. For 2016 he'll be representing CUBE at all the key European races. Racing as a junior he'll be able to accumulate points for the whole team in the Enduro World Series, but the experience of riding alongside the other CUBE Action Team riders will also help him develop his skills.

Interview with Daniel

The 2016 season... What was your best race?

Probably winning just my third race on a CUBE bike was a pretty exciting feeling! It was a tough day on the bike, but in the end it was just awesome to get the new rig to the top step of the podium!

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

As always my main goal is to improve my riding wherever I can! I'll 'hopefully' be done with school by mid-June of this year and afterwards I just want to focus 100% on my riding and see how far I can go! More precisely, I would be very happy to finish the season with an EWS podium in the under-21 category!

4 riders in the team in 2017 – can you tell us something about the team spirit?

It's the start of my second year now and I'm still stoked to have the opportunity to be part of such an amazing team! The vibes are always great and everyone is motivated to go and ride bikes fast! Everybody in the team is special, and for me there's so much to learn from every single one!

I just can't wait for all the good times to come!

What does racing mean to you?

I just love competing, ever since standing on the start line of a cross-country race many many years ago. I love pushing my limits in a way that would never be possible without a clock or a rival to battle it out with! Racing enduro especially is just the best thing I could imagine doing because pushing the limits at such amazing venues on some of the best trails of the world is just awesome to me!

Training with CUBE's Hybrid during the winter time is a great alternative way to get fit. Why you use this new toy for your performance?

I was on the hybrid during our ride camp in Finale Ligure at the beginning of the year and I can tell you – this bike is so much fun!

You can ride an epic trail on your rest day and just spin the legs a bit during the uphill whilst the motor does the rest for you, or you just go flat out on a trail ride up and down the hill (which I prefer)! Whatever you do with it, you just keep improving your riding skills every minute you're on it!

What will be your race highlight in 2017?

Probably the EWS in Madeira! I was there last year and was just blown away by the riding the island offers! I can't wait to get back there!

I'm also looking forward to the SloEnduro series race in Graz, which will also be my first time fighting for the Austrian national champ's jersey!

The Stereo 29" Action Team Edition is your choice for the 2017 season – how is it different to last year's race bike and what do you like so much about it?

I just got the 29er some time ago and felt comfortable on it right from the beginning. In comparison to the 'small' 27.5" bike I rode last season, the new bike just feels way more stable and the big wheels also provide more traction. All in all the new rig fits a bit better to my style of riding. I just can't wait for the new season to see what's possible with this weapon!

Bring it on!
