Tour de France stage 19: Van Keirsbulck and Pasqualon try, but miss the right breakaway

A breakaway triumphed on Friday in the 19th stage of Tour de France. That led the riders in a transition stage from Embrun to Salon-de-Provence.

Guillaume Van Keirsbulck and Andrea Pasqualon tried to break away in the beginning of the stage. The peloton however did not let go. On Col Lebraut the right breakaway was formed. 20 riders broke away, Wanty-Groupe Gobert missed the right moment. Edvald Boasson Hagen was the victor in the streets of Salon-de-Provence. The Wanty-Groupe Gobert riders arrived at the finish 12 minutes later in the middle of the pack. In the general classification Guillaume Martin is 23rd. On Saturday the riders will complete a 22.5km time trial in and around Marseille.

Hilaire Van der Schueren:

Guillaume Van Keirsbulck and Andrea Pasqualon tried to break away in a group but were caught. The other riders didn't have enough energy anymore. Then it is difficult to join the right break. Our riders couldn't accelerate on the climb Col Lebraut. If the pace quickens uphill we have to let go. That is a point to work on for the future on training.
