BOSCH ABS

Anti-lock brakes for your bike are here! Bosch's lightweight and sophisticated second generation ABS works seamlessly with Magura's M CT ABS brakes to modulate front brake power, so you can stop quickly and safely whatever the conditions. On road or off, wet or dry, mud or gravel, it delivers the best possible braking performance whilst helping to keep you safe.

OVERVIEW

Keeps your flow.

In the old days, many people only used the rear brake out of caution or fear. The new Bosch eBike ABS now lets you brake more safely and confidently with both brakes at the same time. It can prevent the front wheel from locking and thus help to avoid skidding. You remain safely in the saddle even during sudden heavy braking – whether you are on firm asphalt or slippery gravel paths. Because every e-bike is different, there is no one-size-fits-all ABS. Instead, there's the right ABS for your e-bike type, supporting your braking process in the best possible way.

Anti-lock braking function
Sensors measure wheel speed and regulate brake pressure - for efficient braking.

Different ABS modes
The ABS modes are matched to the e-bike type: ABS Cargo, ABS Touring, ABS Allroad, ABS Trail.

Effective accident avoidance
If all e-bikes were equipped with ABS, up to 29 percent of pedelec accidents could be prevented each year.

Improving braking behaviour
Your braking statistics can be viewed on your display - the Kiox 300.

DETAILS

Front wheel ABS

Wheel speed sensors monitor the speed of the wheels. If locking of the front wheel is anticipated during excessive braking, Bosch eBike ABS controls braking pressure and improves the riding stability and steerability of the e-bike – this is particularly evident on slippery surfaces. Well-coordinated and sensitive braking behaviour significantly increases control and stability.

Rear wheel lift control

In the event of extreme overbraking of the front wheel, the intelligent Bosch eBike ABS rear wheel lift control reduces the possibility of unwanted lifting of your rear wheel. The likelihood of being ejected over the handlebar is reduced. The front brake can be used more actively and efficiently.

Retrieving braking statistics

The Kiox 300 display can be used to retrieve information about your braking behaviour. If the front brake is used, the braking distance and braking time are recorded and can be displayed; this gives you a sense of how a different surface can affect your braking distance - compare the braking distance on gravel or asphalt, for example. Analyse your braking and improve your braking performance.

MODI

ABS TOURING

Changing road surfaces, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights:

If you commute to work every day and like to spend time in the great outdoors at the weekend, you need brakes that give you the best support. ABS Touring will let you enjoy the ride, secure in the knowledge that you can brake safely if the worst happens.

KATHMANDU HYBRID ABS

ABS ALLROAD

Safety on the road, even in more challenging terrain:

For sporty rides on unpaved trails, the ABS provides ideal, powerful but natural braking support. This way, even an eMountain bike novice can enjoy more carefree riding on gravel and loose surfaces.

REACTION HYBRID ABS

ABS TRAIL

Ambitious trails, faster rides, better skills:

ABS Trail is adapted to the expectations of sporty riders on demanding routes and challenging terrain. The new and revolutionary ABS from Bosch eBike Systems dispels prejudices, because it improves performance and increases riding enjoyment. You will be safely supported during challenging and sporty riding manoeuvres. And if you want to take things easy on your eMountain bike, you can easily switch to ABS Allroad in the eBike Flow app or via your Kiox 300.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Because every e-bike is different, there is no one-size-fits-all ABS. Instead, there's the right ABS for your e-bike type, supporting your braking process in the best possible way.

How quickly and directly does the e-bike decelerate?

If the brake responds directly and forcefully, the braking distance is shortened and you will come to a halt more quickly. If, on the other hand, it responds more gently, your braking distance will be somewhat longer - but also more stable, since the Bosch eBike ABS supports you better during spontaneous, reflexive braking.

How quickly does my e-bike come to a stop?

Reducing the speed very quickly also reduces the stability and the rear wheel can lift. You can compensate for this with more of your own effort and your riding technique.

How stable and true is the front wheel when braking?

If wheel stability is high, you will come to a stop safely without lurching and maintaining high directional stability of the e-bike. If, on the other hand, wheel stability is low, e.g. with a sportier set-up, this also requires better riding technique and balance on the e-bike.

How quickly does the possible braking pressure adapt to the surfaces?

The surface influences the possible braking force, i.e. how hard you can brake your e-bike. The ABS adapts the braking force to the surface and thus finds the optimum balance between deceleration and stability. The faster and shorter the adaptation of the braking force to the surface, the greater the importance of good riding technique.

How much effect does the rear wheel lift control have?

If the rear wheel lift control intervenes strongly, the rear wheel remains closer to the ground and the braking process is more stable, even when braking forcefully. In some sporty riding manoeuvres, it may be desirable to let the rear wheel lift, for example to improve handling in hairpin bends.
